The Fest
The FilmDayton Festival - movies and more FROM Dayton - featuring films that have roots or take their cue, from right here in the Miami Valley. Films made by people who grew up and learned their craft here. And films FOR Dayton - featuring the "best of the fests" which FilmDayton brings to you first.
There’s something for everyone! The following describes just a few highlights. First, BILAL'S STAND is the story of Bilal, a Muslim high school senior who works at his family's long-owned taxi stand, who is forced to decide whether he will continue working at the stand -or take a chance at social mobility. Next, HUSK begins when a murder of crows smash into the windshield of young friends who end up stranded beside a desolate cornfield only to discover something evil and unnatural lurking in the corn. Next, MARWENCOL is the documentary of troubled vet Mark Hogancamp's 1/6th scale World War II-era town in his backyard. Next, WHERE SOLDIERS COME FROM follows the four-year journey of childhood friends from northern Michigan as they go to war in Afghanistan and return as 23-year-old veterans facing the struggles of returning home. Next, immeasureable. follows book editor, Pete Wilkinson, on a quest to find the right job as he is led through an odd world of eccentrics, bureaucracy, buffalo, and a six-foot chicken. And to close, ROCKIN' THE WALL is the compelling story of rock and roll's part in bringing down the Berlin Wall told from the perspective of rockers on both sides. Film Screenings will be followed by Q&As with the filmmakers.

About FilmDayton Festivals So Far
Selections from the 2009 and 2010 festivals included films that have gone on to win numerous accolades. FilmDayton brought the chilling WINTER’S BONE to festival goers months before its national release and subsequent four Academy Award nominations.
